Quant à l'usage qui fait le langage, dans le sens de langue, ça sonne bien, mais nombre de coteries essayent d'imposer le leur cf. écriture (prétendument) inclusive, féminisation faite n'importe comment quand des mots de l'usage (!) existent cf. doctoresse par rapport à docteure. Bizarrement, on n'entend plus ce genre d'objections à ce moment-là.

L'usage ridicule, jargonnant de la data, par des informaticiens , des politicards et des margoulins de la mercatique ce n'est d'ailleurs pas l'Usage.

Tout à fait d'accord pour l'usage de données, mais je ne voulais pas aller trop vite pour les habitués au franglais.

PS : les franglophiles semblent parfois ignorer que l'article défini the est invariable donc aussi bien singulier que pluriel, car oui, data est un pluriel aussi en anglais. Je ne l'avais évidemment pas dit, car cela me semblait évident pour tous les bac + 5 en anglais du forum, au QI de 132.

Prochaine étape, expliquer à tous les neuneus de la politique à l'informatique, en passant par la mercatique (:D) que data est un pluriel (neutre), donc pas de "la data" (sic). D'où le singulier neutre, datum. Mais bon, ils doivent croire que c'est un terme purement anglo-saxon (sic).

Mais même en anglais data au sens pluriel et dont le singulier est datum (même si peu usité). La construction, en revanche accepte un verbe conjugué au singulier ou au pluriel.
